The 2023 TWU Alumni Achievement Awards recognized outstanding TWU alumni.
Carol Ireton-Jones won the Chancellor’s Alumni Excellence Award for her work as a nationally-recognized nutrition therapy specialist. Her work, widely known as the Ireton-Jones Energy Equations, predicts the energy expenditure of patients.
Denton resident, educator and activist Dianne Randolph won the 2023 TWU Distinguished Alumni Award. She’s a classically trained soprano who has performed around the world and has lent her time and talent to Black and European musical traditions.
Tiana James won the 2023 TWU Young Alumni Award for her short climb to claim the role of manager of PR & Partnerships for Victoria’s Secret PINK. The PINK division develops the lingerie juggernaut’s brand loyalty among young women. James led first-of-a-kind initiatives for the brand, but she also co-founded Amplifyed, a digital education course designed to mentor aspiring marketing professionals.
The Hon. Alia Moses got the university’s 2023 Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership Distinguished Public Service Award. Moses is the first woman to become chief U.S. judge of the Western District of Texas. Moses has also worked as a federal magistrate, prosecutor and assistant county attorney. She has mentored about 60 young lawyers through clerkships in her court.
The Dallas and Fort Worth chapters of Empowering Women as Leaders won the TWU 2023 Maroon and White Award. The chapters offer scholarships, mentoring and networking. TWU entered a partnership with Empowering Women as Leaders in 2004. Since then, the group has given more than $350,000 in scholarships.
