A local orthodontics practice is offering a summer reading roadmap kit for its "Big Smiles or Bust! Summer Reading Adventure" that ends July 31.Â
Smile Doctors in Denton is among 131 clinics in the company promoting literacy. The summer reading program is open to all ages, but the kit has some bonus materials for school-age readers: five children's titles from Scholastic.
Anyone can drop in during the clinic's business hours to pick up a roadmap kit, which includes the Scholastic books, a bookmark, a tote and a reading log to track books they've read — and finished — by the end of July.Â
For every five books a child reads, they'll get a prize by bringing their completed reading log into the business. Children who read a total of 20 books over the summer and turn in their reading log before Aug. 1 will get a gift card to Barnes & Noble Booksellers.Â
Families with children as young as 7 can also schedule a free orthodontics consultation for their child, but it isn't required.Â
Smile Doctors has donated more than 11,000 books to patients, schools and libraries in its local communities.
The Denton office is at 2430 Lillian Miller Parkway. The Little Elm practice, at 1000 E. Eldorado Parkway, is also participating.Â
